MORO, Mariano
Moro Mariano was born in Venice in 1957 on the island of Burano. At the age of thirteen he began working with glass at the renowned Cristalleria Santi factory on the island of Murano. As a youngster he worked at various factories and even had the opportunity to he part of the team of the famous Ermanno Nason. At the age of twenty he went to work for the famed master Livio Seguso. There Mario joined the "piazza" of Elio Raffaeli and had an opportunity to learn from top glassblowers.
In 1982 Raffaeli left Seguso with three other partners to start their own firm. They took the young Mariano with them, and he continued to hone his glassmaking skills under their tutelage. To this day he works for their firm Ars Murano. During these years he has also had the experience of making glass for several artists such as Robert Wilson, Duncan McLellan, Fujita and Vania Galli. Today he is a master himself, working in the style of his mentor Elio Raffaeli but also creating his own exceptional works.
