Susan Rankin

Susan Rankin

Glass Artist Susan Rankin is passionate about flowers and expresses the joy of flowers blown glass objects.

The flower vase series capture the beauty of the bloom on a vessel that is both decorative and functional. They enhance a bouquet of fresh cut flowers when in use and return you to the thought of garden when empty.

The flowering vine vessel series is Rankin's ongoing interpretation of life - beauty, colour, gesture, shadow, reflection, isolation, confinement, freedom and treasure. The pieces begin to breathe their own life once the shiny glass surface is removed, replaced with a dark textural surface and enhanced with paint. The richness of the colour speaks of the gardens both wild and tamed, from which they came.

Born , Saskatchewan, 1959.
